If learning or reading feels harder than it should — you are not alone.

And more importantly: your child is not broken.

This free ebook was created for parents who feel that something isn’t clicking, even when hearing tests are normal, and other interventions such as tutoring and therapy hasn't really helped.

It’s for those of you who are tired of:

- having to accept current limitations in education and health services

- staying in the 'learning to read' zone forever

- seeing your child try harder yet not reach academic and social expectations

- trying to understand your child's resistance to learning

- repeating instructions only to hear "what?" or "huh?" too often

- watching their confidence slowly fade

- being told “wait and see”, or "he's a boy", or "she'll catch up"

- wondering if they’ve missed something important

Why learning and reading can be confusing

Many learning and reading challenges are not about intelligence, motivation or hearing.

They’re about attention, memory and how the fast the brain can processes language sounds.

Modern neuroscience has shown us that:

- healthy learning requires strong language and auditory processing skills
- the brain was never designed to read
- learning to read requires new neural pathways to grow and connect
- when sound-to-language processing is inefficient, learning becomes exhausting

When learning feels confusing, children protect themselves by:
- avoiding tasks
- shutting down
- becoming anxious or resistant

This ebook gently explains why this happens — and what actually helps.

What you'll discover in this free ebook

This guide introduces you to the Learnerobics approach, built on three simple but powerful pillars:

1. Auditory Processing & Language Skills
You’ll learn what auditory processing really is (and isn’t), how it affects:
- listening
- speaking
- reading
- writing

You’ll also find a clear, parent-friendly Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) checklist to help you notice patterns — without labels or diagnosis.

2. The Brain Can Change
Through neuroplasticity, the brain can strengthen and reorganise itself with the repetition and reward.

Inside, you’ll learn:
- why “more teaching” isn’t always the answer
- how the brain physically changes when learning happens
- why strengthening learning pathways first makes everything easier

This is the science behind hope — explained calmly, without overwhelm.

3. Supporting Parents Changes Outcomes
Learning and reading challenges don’t just affect children — they affect the whole family.

This guide acknowledges:
- the worry
- the exhaustion
- the self-doubt parents carry

And shows why supporting parents with our coaching is one of the most powerful ways to help children (and adults) feel safe enough to learn.

Who this ebook is for

This guide is especially helpful if your child:
- struggles with learning and/or understanding

- is challenged by reading out loud, spelling, decoding (sounding out words) and comprehension
- may have dyslexia, ADHD, autism, language delays, APD, diagnosed or not
- avoids schoolwork or homework

- has frequent misunderstandings, socially and/or academically
- says things like “I’m dumb” or “I can’t do it”

And if you’re a parent who:
- wants answers without blame
- prefers a brain-based, respectful approach
- doesn’t want to wait for a diagnosis
- wants to understand what’s really going on

About Learnerobics

Learnerobics was founded by Monique, a mum who felt the same worries and frustrations of learning and reading challenges as you.  It all started with a book called The Brain That Changes Itself  by Dr Norman Doidge and later with her work supporting other parents for a northern Sydney speech pathologist.

Monique's mission now is to make learning and reading easier for anyone who finds it challenging - children or adults who may have dyslexia, autism, ADHD or a brain injury.

Learnerobics is designed to be easier.  It is done online, at home and does not require a diagnosis.

Learnerobics is a member of the Australian Tutoring Association and abides by its Code of Conduct.  Monique is also a licensed Brain Health Trainer with Dr Daniel Amen and is undertaking Move To Learn training in 2026.
